A Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) training course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to administer breath alcohol tests effectively and accurately. BAT courses include equipment manufacture registration.
  1. Understanding Alcohol Testing: An overview of the importance of alcohol testing in various settings, including federally regulated collections and workplaces. Legal and Regulatory Framework: Familiarization with the laws and regulations governing alcohol testing, including the role of the BAT in compliance with DOT 49 CFR Part 40 standards.
  2. Testing Equipment: Instruction on various breath alcohol testing devices (primarily LifeLoc products), including calibration, maintenance, and operational procedures.
  3. Test Administration: Step-by-step guidance on administering breath tests, including pre-test procedures, proper technique, and documentation of results.
  4. Interpreting Results: Training on how to interpret the results of breath alcohol tests and understanding the implications of different levels of alcohol concentration.
  5. Safety and Ethical Considerations: Emphasis on maintaining confidentiality, ensuring the rights of individuals being tested, and handling sensitive situations ethically.
  6. Hands-On Practice: Practical exercises that allow participants to practice administering tests and using testing equipment under supervision. Required mocks will be conducted as part of the training.
  7. Qualification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a certification that qualifies them to perform breath alcohol testing.
